Tunnel closings for October, donkey cart transportation through the tunnel will be available. There is security in the parking lots for your vehicles. It has been cool and rainy as of late, don’t forget your jacket and pancho.

Tunnel is CLOSED during the following times:

Friday 19 Sept at midnight until Sunday 21 Sept at 7pm

Friday 26 Sept at midnight until Sunday 28 Sept at 7pm

Wednesday 1 Oct at midnight until Monday 6 Oct at 7pm

Friday 10 Oct at midnight until Monday 13 Oct at 7pm

Friday 17 Oct at midnight until Sunday 19 Oct at 7pm

This is the opening of a permanent photo exhibit in the Casa de Moneda. There is a large collection of photos from the 1930’s and earlier. Definitely worth a stop.

You’ve just been invited to the upcoming Tunel Ogarrio festival. Complete with antique cars, music and dancing in the streets, and Burros Adornados. We are waiting for you, come and enjoy!

For those who don’t know, Samuel Quintanilla Garza is our doctor in Real de Catorce. He is completing his residency in Real, and although we hate to see him go when he is done, we look forward to his success in the medical world. So folks, yes, we do have a real doctor in town!

Ordinarily, public health clinics in Mexico do not have Internet access. Our clinic is not even provided a telephone. El Café Quemado provides Internet access to the doctor and clinic, free of charge- “Al servicio de la comunidad.”

Casa Sierra Catorce has the latest on tunnel closings and town event schedules for this year’s Semana Santa celebrations:

Tunnel Ogarrio will be closed to vehicle traffic from Friday, 14 March, at 6:00 am until Sunday, 23 March at 5:00 pm. Parking will be provided at Dolores Trompeta, El Mirador, and La Luz. Transportation from the parking to Real de Catorce will be available. All parking will have 24 hour security. Visitors with hotel reservations and luggage will be provided with jeep transportation from the tunnel to their hotels…
